Layered Shrimp Cocktail Spread

Cream Cheese Layer:
12-ounces cream cheese, softened
½ cup sour cream
2 Tablespoons minced green onions
1 Tablespoon minced shallots
1 Tablespoon Creole mustard, or other hot, whole grain mustard
1 teaspoons minced fresh parsley
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
Several dashes Tabasco sauce
Pinch Kosher salt

Cocktail Sauce Layer:
1 (12-ounce) bottle chili sauce
1 Tablespoon horseradish
1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice

Shrimp Layer:
2 cups fresh cooked shrimp, cut into bite sized pieces
2 Tablespoons green onions, chopped (green part only)

Cream Cheese Layer: Blend together cream cheese, sour cream, and remaining ingredients for cream cheese layer. Spread mixture evenly in an 8-inch quiche dish, 8-inch spring form pan with removable sides, or shallow serving dish. Cover with foil and refrigerate a minimum of 12 hours, preferably overnight.

Cocktail Sauce Layer: Mix chili sauce, horseradish, Worcestershire sauce and lemon juice. Refrigerate several hours for the flavors to blend.

Finishing: Spread cocktail sauce evenly over cream cheese layer. Sprinkle the shrimp over the cocktail sauce. Sprinkle with chopped green onion. Cover with foil and refrigerate until ready to serve. Serve with crackers. Yield: 10-12 servings.

Note: This is an especially pretty dish to serve during the Christmas holidays, with the red cocktail sauce and sprinkled green onions.
