Preheat oven to 350º F. Cream shortening and margarine; gradually add sugars, beating well at medium speed of an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Add eggs, vanilla extract, baking powder and baking soda; beat well. Add flour and mix well. Add oats and remaining ingredients, one at a time, stirring well after each addition. Drop dough by Tablespoons 2 inches apart onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove from cookie sheet and cool on wire racks. Yield: about 9½ dozen. |
