Peanut Blossoms

½ cup margarine, softened
½ cup firmly packed light brown sugar
½ cup granulated sugar
1 egg
2 Tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
½ cup peanut butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1½ cups all purpose flour
48 milk chocolate kisses

Preheat oven to 375º F.

Cream margarine. Add sugars and beat until fluffy. Add egg, milk, baking soda, salt, peanut butter and vanilla extract. Beat until well blended. Stir in flour. Shape dough into small balls, using a rounded teaspoonful for each. Roll balls in additional granulated sugar. Place balls on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove from oven and immediately top each cookie with a chocolate kiss; press down firmly so that the cookie cracks around the edge. Yield: about 4 dozen cookies.
