Pecan Pie

3 eggs
1 cup Karo dark corn syrup
1 cup granulated sugar
2 Tablespoons butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 cup pecan pieces
Enough pecan halves to line the outer edge of the pie
1 unbaked 9-inch pastry shell

Preheat oven to 400º F.

In a large bowl, beat eggs slightly. Add next 5 ingredients; mix well. Add pecan pieces and mix well. Pour into unbaked pastry shell. Line outer edge of the pie with pecan halves. Bake at 400º F for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 350º F and continue baking 30 to 35 minutes. Filling should be slightly less set in the center than around the edges. Remove from oven and cool completely. Yield: One 9-inch pie.
