Bugs in a Blanket
Bugs in a Blanket is sure to delight young and old at during your Halloween festivities. They have the same great taste as Pigs in a Blanket, but are decorated to resemble bugs! Let your little ones help you make these super simple Bugs in a Blanket.

- 8 ounce refrigerated crescent rolls
- 3 Tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 24 Cocktail smokies
- egg wash
- 48 Asian-Style Crunchy Noodles (See Tip 1)
- 144 Chow Mein Noodles (See Tip 1)
- 1 Tablespoon Ketchup for decoration
Pigs in a Blanket
Preheat oven to 375°F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
Separate crescent roll dough into 8 pieces. Cut each piece lengthwise into thirds. Brush each piece with about ¼ teaspoon of Dijon mustard. Place a Cocktail smokie on the large end of each triangle and roll up. Arrange the bugs in a blanket seam side down on prepare baking sheet, 1 to 2-inches apart.
Brush with egg wash.
Bake in preheated 375°F oven for 15 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool for 10 minutes.
Insert two Asian-Style Crunchy Noodles into one of the exposed ends of the Cocktail smokie for antennas. Insert 3 Chow Mein Noodles on one side of the bug body; repeat on the other side of the bug body. (See Tip 2)
Place ketcup in piping bag fitted with small round tip or into a Ziploc bag. If using a Ziploc bag, cut a small piece out of one corner. Pipe several ketcup dots onto bug body. (See Tip 3)
Yield: 24 Bugs in a Blanket.
- You could also use shoestring potatoes for the antenna and bug legs.
- Try to use noodles of the same size for the antenna and bug legs.
- You could use mustard in place of or in addition to the the ketchup for the decoration on the bug bodies.
