Notes

  1. The slow cooker's gentle heat prevents the chocolate mixture from overheating, resulting in perfectly tempered chocolate with a shiny finish. Also, the "keep warm" setting keeps melted chocolate at the right temperature, allowing plenty of time for portioning the candy without the mixture hardening too soon.
  2. It's best to use salted peanuts because their saltiness balances the sweetness of the chocolate, adds a satisfying crunch to each bite, and prevents the candy from tasting overly sweet.
  3. Don't be tempted to open the lid. Keeping the lid closed for the full hour to maintain consistent low heating.
  4. If, after an hour in the slow cooker, the ingredients are not fully melted, replace the cover and cook on low for an additional 15 minutes.
  5. For the holidays, I like to decorate the candy with red, green, and white jimmies. They maintain their shape during extended storage, resist bleeding color into the chocolate, and add a festive appeal without compromising the candy's texture.
  6. This delicious peanut butter crock pot candy recipe yields approximately 11 dozen pieces, making it perfect for holiday gift-giving or sharing at large gatherings. Each batch creates enough treats to fill multiple gift boxes or candy tins. Wrap the candy in individual candy foil, package it in clear cellophane gift bags with decorative ribbon, or use your imagination for one of a kind gifting options.
