- ½ c Unsalted Butter
- ½ c Light Brown Sugar
- 1 tbs Ground Cinnamon
- 6 large Granny Smith Apples
Wash the apples well. Then, peel them using a vegetable peeler. Using a 16-slice apple cutter, cut the peeled apples into 16 ½-inch slices1, and discard the core. Place the apple slices in a bowl and set aside until ready to use. Melt the unsalted butter in a large cast iron skillet2 over medium heat.
Add the light brown sugar and cinnamon to the skillet. Stir the mixture until everything is well incorporated and the brown sugar has dissolved.
Add the sliced apples and stir to coat them with the butter mixture. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 10 to 15 minutes until the apples are slightly softened. Serve warm.
Yield 12 servings
- If you don't have a 16-slice apple cutter that's ok, a large apple cut into 16 slices will yield ½-inch slices. If you only have an 8-slice apple cutter, that's ok, simply cut all of the slices in half.
- I used my 5-qt. Le Creuset Braiser.
