- ½ c Unsalted Butter
- ½ c Light Brown Sugar
- 1 tbs Ground Cinnamon
- 6 large Granny Smith Apples
- Wash the apples well. Then, peel them using a vegetable peeler. Using a 16-slice apple cutter, cut the peeled apples into 16 ½-inch slices1, and discard the core. Place the apple slices in a bowl and set aside until ready to use.
- Melt the unsalted butter in a large cast iron skillet2 over medium heat.
- Add the light brown sugar and cinnamon to the skillet. Stir the mixture until everything is well incorporated and the brown sugar has dissolved.
- Add the sliced apples and stir to coat them with the butter mixture. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 10 to 15 minutes until the apples are slightly softened. Serve warm.
- Yield 12 servings
- If you don't have a 16-slice apple cutter that's ok, a large apple cut into 16 slices will yield ½-inch slices. If you only have an 8-slice apple cutter, that's ok, simply cut all of the slices in half.
- I used my 5-qt. Le Creuset Braiser.
