Large Bowl
Silicone Spatula
9x9-inch baking pan
knife
- 2 ½ c All-Purpose Flour
- 4 teaspoon Baking Powder
- 4 teaspoon Salt
- 2 teaspoon Sugar
- 2 c Buttermilk cold
- ½ c Unsalted Butter
Preheat oven to 450°F.
Combine flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt in a large bowl. Pour in cold buttermilk. Stir with a silicone spatula until a moist dough forms, taking care not to overmix.
Place the unsalted butter in a 9x9 baking dish, then place the dish in the preheated oven for about six minutes, or until the butter is melted and slightly sizzling. Carefully remove the dish from the oven and pour in the dough. Use the spatula to spread the dough evenly across the pan until it touches the sides. Use a knife to cut the unbaked butter-covered dough into nine pieces.
Bake in a 450°F oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
Remove from the oven and allow to cool for about ten minutes before cutting along the cuts you made before baking.
