Equipment

  • 2 half sheet pans
  • 2 Silicone Baking Mats or parchment paper
  • 16-slice apple cutter
  • Pastry Brush

Ingredients

  • ½ c Light Brown Sugar
  • 2 teaspoon Apple Pie Spice
  • 2 - 8 oz cans Crescent Rolls
  • ½ c Pecan Pieces
  • 1 large Granny Smith Apple
  • ½ c Unsalted Butter divided
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon Sugar

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F. Line two half-sheet pan with silicone baking mats or parchment paper.
  • In a small bowl, combine light brown sugar and apple pie spice. Set the bowl aside until ready to use.
  • Open one can of crescent rolls. Unroll the crescent rolls and separate them into triangles. Place eight triangles on one of the lined half-sheet pans. Repeat with the second can of crescent rolls and the second pan.
  • Sprinkle ½ a tablespoon of the brown sugar cinnamon mixture over the top of each crescent triangle, spreading the mixture so that it covers the entire surface of the triangle. Next, sprinkle ½ a tablespoon of pecan pieces over the entire surface of the triangle.
  • Wash and scrub the apples well. Then, using a 16-slice apple cutter, cut the apple into 16 ½-inch slices, and discard the core.1
  • Place the apple slices in a medium bowl. Then, melt four tablespoons of unsalted butter in the microwave. Pour the melted butter over the apple slices and stir to coat all of them. Place one of the butter-coated slices on the wide end of each of the prepared triangles.
  • Starting at the wide end where the apple was placed, wrap each crescent into a roll around the apple slice. Melt the remaining four tablespoons of butter and brush the tops of each rolled crescent. Sprinkle the tops of each rolled crescent with a pinch or two of cinnamon sugar.2
  • Bake in 375°F oven for 10 to 12 minutes, until golden brown. Remove the pan from the oven and allow to cool on a wire rack for five minutes before serving. Serve warm and enjoy!
  • Yield 16 servings.

Notes

  1. If you don't have a 16-slice apple cutter that's ok, a large apple cut into 16 slices will yield ½-inch slices. If you only have an 8-slice apple cutter, that's ok, simply cut all of the slices in half.
  2. For the cinnamon sugar I used Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cinnadust.
