Why You'll Want to Make Valentine's Day Oreo Candy Bark

    • Perfect for Valentine's Day: With its festive pink and red colors and adorable Valentine's toppings, this candy bark is the ideal way to show your love on February 14th.
    • Quick and Easy to Make: No need to be a master baker to whip up this delicious treat. The recipe is simple to follow and requires just a handful of ingredients.
    • Budget-Friendly: Compared to store-bought chocolates or fancy desserts, candy bark is surprisingly affordable. You can use pantry staples and find decorations on sale, making it a budget-conscious way to celebrate Valentine's Day.
    • Great for Gifting: This candy bark makes a delightful homemade gift for your Valentine, friends, or family members. Package it up in a pretty box or cellophane bag for an extra special touch.

    Ingredients - Here's What You'll Need

    • White Almond Bark: It melts beautifully and evenly, making it incredibly easy to work with. You can melt it in a microwave or double boiler, and it sets quickly, saving you precious time in the kitchen.
    • Red filled Oreo's: I had a package leftover from Christmas, so I thought I'd put them to use for Valentine's Day. However, you can use regular double stuffed Oreo's since you're not likely to find them in stores at this time of year.
    • Candy Melts: Use red, bright pink, and light pink for a rainbow of Valentine's Day colors.
    • Valentine's Day Candy and Sprinkles: I used Plain M&M's and Reese's Peanut Butter Hearts.

    1. Place the rest of the white almond bark in the same bowl you melted the first half in, and melt it according to package directions, until it's smooth and creamy. Then pour it over the Oreo's and carefully spread it out so that it's covering all of the Oreo's.

    1. Place the color candy melts into bowls and microwave each one for 30-second intervals at 50% power, stirring after each heating, until the candy melts are smooth and creamy. It took me a total of three and a half minutes for each.

    1. Then finish the bark off with some Valentine's Day sprinkles. Remove the clips from the pan and place the pan in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to allow the chocolate to harden. After 30 minutes have passed, remove the pan from the refrigerator. Then allow the pan to sit out for a few hours to make sure the candy has completely hardened.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use regular chocolate instead of white almond bark?

Sure! While white almond bark offers a smooth, slightly sweet, and slightly nutty flavor, feel free to experiment with melted milk, dark, or even semi-sweet chocolate. Each will bring its own unique taste and texture to the party.

Do I have to use red-filled Oreos?

Absolutely not! Classic Oreos work beautifully, providing a familiar and comforting base for your bark. But if you're feeling adventurous, try using double-stuffed Oreos for an extra dose of creaminess, or explore other flavors like mint or peanut butter for a unexpected twist.

What are some fun toppings I can use?

The world is your oyster! Get creative with sprinkles in all shapes and sizes, heart-shaped candies, crushed nuts, dried fruit, mini marshmallows, or even drizzle with contrasting chocolate colors.

How do I store my candy bark?

Keep your bark fresh and delicious by storing it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. Just let it come to room temperature for a few minutes before serving.

    Recipe Tips and Tricks

    • Get creative: Don't be afraid to experiment with different types of chocolate! Try using flavored chocolate chips, like mint or peanut butter, for a unique twist.
    • Think outside the box: Other cookie options like mint Oreos, peanut butter Oreos, or even chocolate chip cookies can add unexpected flavors and textures.
    • Nuts and dried fruit: For a touch of texture and complexity, try adding chopped nuts like almonds or pistachios, or dried fruit like cranberries or cherries.
    • Package with love: Wrap your bark in cellophane bags, tie them with ribbons, or decorate them with heart-shaped stickers for a special touch.
