Why You'll Want To Make Corn Flake Candy Hearts

    • Adorable Factor: These bite-sized clusters are shaped into hearts, making them a perfect fit for any Valentine's Day theme.
    • Flavor and Texture: You get a delightful "party in your mouth" from the contrast between airy, crispy corn flakes and smooth, melt-in-your-mouth candy coating.
    • Easy and Fast: No fancy baking skills or expensive ingredients are required; even a teenager can whip up a batch in no time.
    • Family Friendly: This is a great activity for busy couples or families who want to show love without spending hours in the kitchen.

    Ingredients - Here's What You'll Need

Ingredients for Corn Flake Candy Melts

Steps To Make Red Corn Flake Candy Hearts

    1. Place red candy melts in a large microwave-proof bowl.

    1. Microwave for 30-second intervals at 50% power, stirring after each heating, until the candy melts are smooth and creamy. It took me a total of three and a half minutes.

    1. Next, add one-third of the corn flakes to the melted red candy.

    1. Then, using a ¼ cup ice cream scoop, drop one scoopful of the red corn flake mixture into the cutter.

    1. Next, using a chopstick, distribute the red corn flake mixture evenly inside the heart-shaped cookie cutter.

    1. Then, carefully remove the cookie cutter from the pan by slowly pulling it straight upwards. If the heart loses any of its shape, use the chopstick to lightly push the red corn flakes back into place.

    1. Repeat steps 5-8 with the remaining red corn flake mixture. You'll want to clean your cookie cutter after making two or three hearts, as the melted candy residue will harden on the inside of the cutter and make it difficult to release the hearts from the cutter. Once all the red hearts are made, set aside the pan to allow the melted candy to harden while you make the hearts of the other two colors.

Steps To Make Bright Pink Corn Flake Candy Hearts

    1. Place bright pink candy melts in a large microwave-proof bowl.
    1. Microwave for 30-second intervals at 50% power, stirring after each heating, until they are smooth and creamy. It took me a total of three and a half minutes.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make these ahead of time?

Absolutely! These store well in an airtight container at room temperature for several days.

How do I package them as gifts?

They look beautiful in small cellophane bags tied with a decorative Valentine's ribbon.

What if I don't have a kitchen scale?

No problem! One ounce of corn flakes is roughly equivalent to one cup.

    Is this recipe beginner-friendly?

Yes! It requires no actual baking, making it a "snack hero" project for anyone regardless of skill level.

    Recipe Tips and Tricks

    • Vary the Texture: For more depth and to prevent the hearts from being too dense, try using a combination of whole and slightly crushed corn flakes.
    • Keep it Warm: If the mixture starts to harden while you are still shaping hearts, pop it back in the microwave for 30 seconds at 50% power to loosen it up.
    • Clean Your Tools: Clean the inside of your cookie cutter after every two or three hearts. Melted candy residue will build up and make it difficult to get a clean release.
    • Add Some Sparkle: Don't be afraid to go all out with edible glitter, colored sugar, or mini heart-shaped sprinkles for extra visual appeal.
