Steps To Make Red Corn Flake Candy Hearts

    1. Place red candy melts in a large microwave-proof bowl.

    1. Microwave for 30-second intervals at 50% power, stirring after each heating, until the candy melts are smooth and creamy. It took me a total of three and a half minutes.

    1. Next, add one-third of the corn flakes to the melted red candy.

    1. Then, carefully remove the cookie cutter from the pan by slowly pulling it straight upwards. If the heart loses any of its shape, use the chopstick to lightly push the red corn flakes back into place.

    1. Repeat steps 5-8 with the remaining red corn flake mixture. You'll want to clean your cookie cutter after making two or three hearts, as the melted candy residue will harden on the inside of the cutter and make it difficult to release the hearts from the cutter. Once all the red hearts are made, set aside the pan to allow the melted candy to harden while you make the hearts of the other two colors.

    Corn Flake Candy Hearts

    Frequently Asked Questions

How hard are they to make?

They're very easy to make! No fancy baking skills required. Just melt the candy melts, stir in the corn flakes, and shape them into hearts. Then let them cool and harden, and you're done!

Can you make them ahead of time?

Absolutely! Corn Flake Candy Hearts store well in an airtight container at room temperature for several days, so you can easily make them a few days ahead of Valentine's Day.

What are some creative ways to decorate them?

You can use edible glitter, colored sugar, or even mini heart-shaped sprinkles to add some extra Valentine's Day flair.

How can I package them for Valentine's Day?

They look adorable in small cellophane bags tied with decorative ribbon.

    Recipe Tips and Tricks

    • Corn Flake Texture: For a mix of textures, use a combination of regular and crushed corn flakes. This adds depth and keeps the hearts from being too dense.
    • Sprinkles Galore: Don't be afraid to go all out with festive sprinkles! Valentine's Day-themed sprinkles, edible glitter, or even mini heart-shaped sprinkles add extra visual appeal.
    • Heat up the mixture: If your candy and corn flake mixture beings to harden while making the hearts, simply pop the bowl back in the microwave for 30 seconds at 50% power.
    • Clean the cookie cutter: You'll want to clean your cookie cutter after making two or three hearts, as the melted candy residue will harden on the inside of the cutter and make it difficult to release the hearts from the cutter.
