Valentine's Sweetheart Pretzels - the perfect blend of sweet and salty.

If you’ve ever made candy coated pretzels, you know how delicious they are. You also know how time-consuming and fussy they are to make. With only two ingredients, Valentine’s Sweetheart Pretzels provide the perfect blend of sweet, salty, and crunchy from candy coated pretzels without the fuss.

    Valentines Sweetheart Pretzels

    Two Simple Ingredients

I used the following two ingredients to make Valentine’s Sweetheart Pretzels: Mini pretzels, and pink candy melts.  At first, I tried red candy melts, but didn’t think that they were as pretty as the pink. Who would have thought that mini pretzels are actually heart-shaped if turned in the right direction?

    Making the Valentine’s Sweetheart Pretzels

As a first step, I cut the candy melts into heart shapes using a mini heart-shaped cookie cutter that I got at Hobby Lobby. According to the package, it was 0.7 inches or 1.8 cm, and was the perfect size.

    Cutting candy melts

Next, I arranged 8 mini pretzels on a microwave safe plate so that each one looked like a heart. Then, I placed a candy heart in the center of each pretzel.

    Candy melts on pretzels

I microwaved the pretzels on high for about a minute. After a minute, the candy hearts were almost melted. The the time that it takes to perfectly melt the candy hearts is dependent on your microwave. I carefully pressed each heart to push it onto the pretzel so that it would stick.

    Pressing candy melt onto pretzel

As a final step, I placed the Valentine’s Sweetheart Pretzels on a wire rack to allow the candy heart to harden.

You can make as many or as few of these cute Valentine’s treats as you want. Yum!
