Ingredients for Easy Cinnamon Roll Christmas Trees

Steps to Make Easy Cinnamon Roll Christmas Trees

    1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line two half-sheet pans with silicone baking mats or parchment paper. Open one Pillsbury Grands Cinnamon Rolls can, and set the icing aside to use later. Unroll one cinnamon roll and shape it into a Christmas tree by starting at the tree's base, making a 2-2.5" line of dough, then curving it up to make the next row slightly smaller, and then repeating until all the dough is gone. Repeat shaping the rest of the cinnamon rolls from one can into trees, making sure to place only five trees per pan.
    forming cinnamon roll trees
    1. Bake in the 350°F oven for 23 to 27 minutes or until golden brown. While the first pan is cooking, repeat forming the trees with the second can of cinnamon rolls. Remove the first pan from the oven, place on a wire cooling rack, and bake the second pan of cinnamon rolls.

    1. After you've formed the second pan of cinnamon roll trees and while the first pan is still baking, prepare the frosting. Start by placing the Philadelphia Cream Cheese Frosting in a medium-sized bowl, along with the frosting that comes with the cinnamon rolls and a few drops of green gel food coloring.
adding frosting and food coloring to bowl
    1. Beat everything together with an electric hand mixer until combined and uniform in color. If necessary, add a few more drops of food coloring until the desired color is reached. Please note that the color will darken as it sets on the cinnamon rolls.

    Recipe Tips and Tricks

    • If you can't find Wilton Rainbow Chip Crunch Sprinkles, you can use mini M&M's to decorate the tops of the trees.
    • Make sure the cinnamon roll trees are completely cooled before adding the candy topping, or they will begin to melt. I made that mistake, and the candy melted slightly.
    • These are best served the day you make them. I do not recommend making them in advance. You can store leftovers in an airtight container. However, this will also cause the candy topping to melt.
    • You should only place five cinnamon roll trees per pan because they will expand while baking and you don't want to overcrowd the pan.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I need extra cream cheese frosting?

Because the amount that comes with the cinnamon rolls isn't enough.

What if I can't find Philadelphia Cream Cheese Frosting?

You can substitute the kind that comes in a can found on the baking isle.
