Ingredients and Substitutions
Simple ingredients for maximum flavor!
- The Hash Browns: I purchased premade frozen hash brown patties at Walmart, and they were perfect for this recipe.
- The Cheese: In our house, the cheese of choice is extra sharp cheddar, which I used. You could, however, use whatever melty cheese is your favorite, like Colby Jack, regular cheddar, mozzarella, Monterey Jack, Pepper Jack, etc.
- The Bacon: I used bacon, which I cooked, drained, and crumbled. You could also use real bacon bits that you can purchase in the grocery store.
- The Toppings: I used a dollop of low-fat sour cream sprinkled with minced fresh chives for the toppings. Sometimes, I’ll place the sour cream in a piping bag with a small round tip and pipe it in a zigzag fashion.
Making the Loaded Hash Brown Patties
- I started by placing the frozen hash brown patties on a nonstick aluminum foil-lined baking sheet. Then, I baked them according to the package directions.
- Once the hash brown patties were nice and crispy, I removed them from the oven.
- Next, I sprinkled the patties with some shredded cheddar cheese and crumbled bacon.
- I returned the hash browns to the oven for two to three minutes until the cheese was melted and bubbly.
- I removed the hash browns from the oven and transferred them to a serving dish. I finished them with a dollop of sour cream and a sprinkling of minced fresh chives.
It’s that easy!
With minimal prep time and maximum flavor, these loaded hash brown patties are sure to become a staple in your recipe collection. They are the perfect choice, whether feeding a crowd or treating yourself. Did I mention that they are absolutely delicious? Yum!
