    Holiday Cornucopia Treats

If you're looking for the perfect holiday gift from your kitchen, look no further. These adorable and easy to prepare Holiday Cornucopia Treats are sure to bring a smile to kids of all ages! The little Cornucopias can be filled with all sorts of munchies from candy to Holiday Carmel Chex Mix, and lots in between.

    Holiday Cornucopia Treats

    Making the Holiday Cornucopia:

I used store-bought sugar cones to make the Cornucopia. I would recommend against using waffle cones – they’re much more difficult to work with, and don’t form as nice a cornucopia. In order to achieve the curled end, I needed to soften the bottom of the cone. I started by dipping a straw in some warm water, holding the end to trap the water, and releasing the water into the cone.

    Putting water in Sugar Cone

Then, I dipped the cone in about 2½-inches of warm water for 15 seconds. I tried different amounts of water, starting with 1-inch, but 2½-inches proved optimal.

    Dipping Sugar Cone in Water

Next, poured the water out of the cone, and microwaved it for 15 seconds on high power. This softened the end of the cone, making it easy to produce the characteristic curl at the end of the cornucopia. Then, I set the cone upright on a baking dish, and used my finger and gravity to curl the end. I repeated the process with the rest of the cones, and popped them into a 250° F oven for about 30 minutes to allow the ends to dry out.

    Curling End of Cone

Decorating and Filling the Holiday Cornucopia Treats:

I wanted a festive look for the cornucopias. Therefore, I melted some bright white Candy Melts in a small dish. I thought that the mixture was too thick, so I added several teaspoons of vegetable oil to thin it out. I dipped each of the cornucopias, and sprinkled on some red, green, and white sprinkles.

    Decorating Cornucopias

After the candy melts hardened, I filled each of the cornucopias with my Holiday Carmel Chex Mix. Then, I covered the end with a piece of plastic, secured the plastic with a rubber band, and tied on some ribbon give the Holiday Cornucopia a decorative look. That’s it! Now you can wow your friends with this adorable and easy to prepare Holiday treat! Use your imagination to fill these little Cornucopias with munchies of your choice. Yum!
