    Breakfast Tortilla Hack

Breakfast Tortilla Hack is a new way to wrap a flour tortilla around yummy breakfast ingredients. This new way of making a quesadilla is from a viral TikTok hack. After trying my hand at the tortilla hack, I may never go back to the traditional way of making a quesadilla.

    Breakfast Tortilla Hack

    The TikTok Tortilla Hack

The TikTok Tortilla Hack basically views the round tortilla with four quadrants. Different ingredients are placed in each of the four quadrants and the tortilla is folded three times over the ingredients.

There are four different ways that the tortilla can be folded as shown in this brief video. It’s really a matter of preference. If you plan on heating the tortilla hack, knowing which quadrants are on the outside and therefore closest to the heat is helpful.

#1 is the counter clockwise fold. Quadrants 3 and 4 are on the outside.

#2 is the clockwise fold. Quadrants 3 and 4 are on the outside.

#3 is the up and under fold. Quadrants 1 and 2 are on the outside.

#4 is the up and over fold. Quadrants 3 and 4 are on the outside.

The outside will be the part that receives the most heat if the tortilla hack is heated.

    Ingredients for Breakfast Tortilla Hack

For this breakfast tortilla hack, I used a 10-inch flour tortilla and several different breakfast ingredients. You can use whatever ingredients you prefer.

    Making the Breakfast Tortilla Hack

The first thing that I did was to mark the center of the tortilla. I did this by folding the tortilla in half and then folding it again in half. Then, I marked to tip of the cone.

Next, I made a single cut in the tortilla from the center to one of the edges.

    Cutting the tortilla

For this Breakfast Tortilla hack, I used Pico de Gallo, scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, Golden Crispy Crowns that I had cooked and shredded cheese (Photo 1).

I used a counter clockwise approach to folding the tortilla and ingredients.

I started by folding the tortilla quarter with the Pico de Gallo next to the cut up over the scrambled eggs and bacon (Photo 2). Then, I folded the tortilla over the Crispy Crowns (Photo 3). Finally, for the last fold, I folded the tortilla over the cheese (Photo 4).

    Folding the tortilla

I brushed both sides of the tortilla with olive oil and put it into a skillet over medium heat. I cooked both sides until they were golden brown. This took 3 to 4 minutes per side.

    Cooking the breakfast tortilla

Once the Breakfast Tortilla Hack was golden brown, I removed it to a cutting board. Then, I cut it in half from the pointed end to the large curved end. Look how yummy!

    Cutting the breakfast tortilla

Since this was for breakfast, I served the Breakfast Tortilla Hack with some fresh orange juice (from our orange tree!) and orange slices.

Talk about amazing! The Breakfast Tortilla Hack was not only a novel way of using a flour tortilla for an awesome wrap, but also absolutely delicious. You should try it. Yum!

    Chula’s Expert Tips

    • I used my homemade Pico de Gallo in this Breakfast Tortilla Hack. However, you could also use jarred Pico de Gallo or salsa. Just make sure that you drain it well.
    • I really like the Golden Crispy Crowns in this tortilla wrap. However, you could also use ¼ cup of prepared hash browns in place of the Golden Crispy Crowns.
    • I generally use either cheddar cheese or Colby Jack. However, feel free to use whatever cheese you prefer.
    • There are different ways to fold the tortilla. However, I like to make sure that the ingredients that need the most heat end up on the outside of the tortilla fold. The way that I prefer to fold the tortilla results in the last two ingredients that I add being on the outside folds.
    • This can be wrapped in aluminum foil and warmed at 350°F for 5 to 10 minutes.
