Steps to Make Oven-Baked Pasta Chips

    1. Preheat your oven to 400°F. Cook the dry farfalle pasta according to package directions for the maximum cooking time, which is a minute or two more than al dente. I cooked mine for 12 minutes.

    1. While the pasta is cooking, place the grated parmesan cheese, Kosher salt, freshly ground black pepper, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder in a small bowl.

    1. Then, use a small whisk or fork to combine everything, making sure to break up any lumps in the cheese. Set the bowl aside until ready to use.

    1. Drain the pasta in a colander set in your sink; DO NOT rinse it. Then, transfer the pasta to a large bowl. While the pasta is still hot, pour the olive oil over and use a wooden spoon or silicone spatula to stir the oil into the pasta, making sure all the noodles are well coated.

    1. Line two half-sheet pans with parchment paper. Place the pasta in an even layer on one pan, trying to make sure that none of the pasta is touching; it will stick together. Then, place the pan on the center rack in a 400°F oven for 15 minutes. Place the remaining pasta pieces on the other pan while the first pan is cooking in the oven.

    1. Remove the first pan from the oven, place the second pan on the center rack, and bake for 15 minutes. Flip each pasta piece over on the first pan, making sure to separate any pasta that has stuck together. When the second pan is done, place the first pan back in the oven for 12 minutes.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of pasta is best for making oven-baked pasta chips?

How long do oven-baked pasta chips last?

Store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.

Can I freeze oven-baked pasta chips?

Yes, you can freeze them for up to 3 months.

    Can I air-fry oven-baked pasta chips?

Yes, you can air fry them, however you'll need to adjust the cooking time.

    Recipe Tips and Tricks

    • Bake in a single layer: Avoid overcrowding the baking sheet, this can prevent the chips from crisping up properly. The pasta will also stick together if the pieces are touching.
    • Experiment with different seasonings: Don't be afraid to get creative with your flavor combinations. For a spicy kick, try adding chili powder, cayenne pepper, or some red pepper flakes.
    • Cool completely before storing: Allow the chips to cool completely on the baking sheet before transferring them to an airtight container. This will prevent them from becoming soggy.
    • Watch Closely: Keep an eye on the chips to avoid overcooking.
