    Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to use maple glaze?

How can I tell if my pigs in a blanket are cooked through?

The sausage should be cooked through and golden brown. The internal temperature can be checked with a meat thermometer; it should reach 160°F (71°C).

Can I make these ahead of time?

You can assemble the pigs in a blanket ahead of time and store them in an airtight container the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Bake them just before serving for the freshest flavor and texture.

How can I reheat leftover pigs in a blanket?

Leftovers can be reheated in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for a few minutes until warmed through.

    Recipe Tips and Tricks

    • Sausage Selection: Experiment with different sausages! Consider breakfast sausage links for a classic flavor, or try bolder options like maple breakfast sausage or spicy chorizo for an extra kick.
    • Sprinkle Surprise: Before baking, sprinkle your pigs in a blanket with coarse sugar, like turbinado sugar, for a sparkly and crunchy topping.
    • Flavor Boosters: Don't be afraid to get creative! Add a sprinkle of chopped nuts like pecans or walnuts for extra texture and a nutty crunch. Dried fruit like cranberries or raisins can add a touch of sweetness and tartness.
    • Dipping Delight: Serve your pigs in a blanket with a small ramekin of warm maple glaze for dipping.
