    Frequently Asked Questions

Can you use store-bought lemonade rather than making your own in this recipe?

You can use one cup of store-bought lemonade in this recipe. However, the frosted lemonade will not be as tasty.

Can bottled lemon juice be substituted for freshly squeezed lemon juice?

You could use bottled lemon juice in a pinch. However, for the best flavor, use freshly squeezed lemon juice.

Can the frosted lemonade be made ahead of time?

Ideally, the frosted lemonade should be consumed right after it is made for the best taste and texture. However, it can definitely be made ahead of time and refrigerated.

    Recipe Tips and Tricks

    • For the best taste, make your own lemonade. The first time I made this recipe, I used store-bought lemonade. I thought the taste was very thin, so I ended up squeezing a lemon into the lemonade before using it. Even after adding the lemon juice, I was still not satisfied with the final taste.
    • Use chilled ingredients to ensure the lemonade stays frosty and doesn't melt too quickly.
    • Rather than using store-bought ice cream, you can make your own no-churn vanilla ice cream with 1 ¼ cups of heavy cream, ½ cup of sweetened condensed milk, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Use an electric mixer to make the ice cream. Then beat in the lemonade to the desired consistency.
    • The proportions used in this recipe produced a sweet and tart combination that suited my taste. To make frosted lemonade sweeter, add more sugar. To make it more tart, reduce the sugar or add more lemon juice.
