    Frequently Asked Questions

Are there substitutions for the pre-made chicken patties?

If the pre-made chicken patties are small enough, they are perfect in this recipe. However, making your own is easy by cutting larger patties in half. You could also use store-bought chicken nuggets or tenders in this recipe.

Can I use regular bread instead of Texas toast?

While thick-cut Texas toast is best for stability, you can use thick Italian or sourdough bread. Just be sure to butter and lightly toast it first to prevent it from getting soggy.

Can I make this ahead of time?

It is best served fresh to maintain the crunch. However, you can prepare the seasoned tomato sauce in advance to save time.

    What about leftovers?

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge. Reheat in a 350°F oven for about 20 minutes to restore the crispiness of the chicken and toast.

    Recipe Tips and Tricks

    • Don't Skimp on Quality: Using high-quality Texas toast and freshly grated Parmesan makes a noticeable difference in the final flavor profile.
    • Parchment Paper is Essential: Always line your pans for easy cleanup and to ensure the cheese that melts off the side doesn't stick.
    • Sauce Shortcut: If you are in a major rush, you can swap the seasoned tomato sauce for your favorite store-bought pizza or marinara sauce.
    • The Perfect Melt: For the best results, use "melt-friendly" cheeses like Mozzarella and Provolone to get those classic cheesy pulls.
